Most people have probably heard of the claim that a person with a pessimistic view of reality would say that "the glass is half empty," while one with an optimistic view would say that "the glass is half full."
Does anyone believe that the statement you give is linked to whether you are optimistic or pessimistic?

it's all based on some reasoning patterns your brain learns to follow during the first years of your life, it has nothing to do with personality traits

I think it also depends on the context of the situation. If you were pouring water into a glass you'd probably be more likely to say that it's half full, while if you were drinking out of it the opposite would apply. The reasoning is common sense.it's all based on some reasoning patterns your brain learns to follow during the first years of your life, it has nothing to do with personality traits

for me it really depends on what happened to the glass with water. just like what sam said. if you were pouring water in it i'll say its half full. because why the hell will you say its half empty if you just poured something in it.

Half empty. Unless its liquor. But my reasoning is like, why would I want half of something in general. I would be like yo lemme get the full glass, drink what I want, you get the rest. And I guess I'm alot more pessimistic because I just am unless I'm for sure the best at whatever the situation is 8D

It's half full to me. It's like saying that a person just needs more, not that a person doesn't have enough of something.
